ADA Compliant Transportation
According to the United States Department of Labor, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities. The Department of Transportation requires transit operators to make their systems accessible to persons with disabilities.
With the high growth of the aging population in the U.S., municipalities are struggling to fulfill the transportation needs of their citizens while meeting ADA guidelines. Many options are still mostly or fully inaccessible to the people who need transportation the most: our seniors and special needs citizens. These individuals are largely under-served, sometimes riding many hours on multi-passenger vans to go just a few miles.
Non Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
NEMT services are available to all Medicaid enrollees. NEMT is defined as non-emergency, medically necessary transportation for enrollees that ensures reasonable access to and from Medicaid-covered services.
