Drive Safely This Summer
Let's keep UZURV a safe community for everyone!
Summer is in full swing and with it comes more driving distractions, traffic, and extreme weather. So let’s work together to make UZURV an accessible, reliable, and safe platform.
Here are some quick tips and reminders for your next ride:
- Prepare your vehicle for high temperatures and summer storms.
Rising temperatures and inclement weather can affect your car’s tire pressure, wiper blades, hoses, and belts. Regularly service your car to keep it running smoothly. Review this helpful checklist from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of what to look out for. - Keep yourself and passengers cool by running the AC.
UZURV riders may have a disability or medical condition that makes them more sensitive to the heat. Ensure your cooling system is running efficiently and turn the air conditioning on for every ride to keep riders comfortable. - Check local maps for possible detours or closures.
More construction projects take place in the summer because of the more favorable working conditions. Maintain caution when driving through a work zone. There could also be changes in traffic patterns, so always check your GPS to help get to your destination safely and on time. - Keep your attention on the road and prevent distracted driving.
School is out, and more teen drivers who are still learning will be on the road. These extra distractions, like road work and student drivers, mean it’s even more important to always remain focused on driving. Never text, make a call, check messages, or eat while driving.

Reminders Before You Go
- UZURV prohibits the use of personal communication devices while the vehicle is in motion, including bluetooth devices, smart watches, tablets, headsets, and headphones.
- Secure your phone in a hands-free mount to safely monitor GPS directions while giving a ride.
- If you do need to make a call, pull over to a safe area first.
- Accidents still happen. In the event of an emergency, remember the UZURV response procedure:
Assess the Situation: Is this an emergency?
Scene Safety: Are you and your rider still in danger?
Request aid or assistance from police & EMS by calling 911.
Reassure and assist riders with their needs.
Notify the UZURV Driver Hotline once the situation is under control and EMS is en route.
Gather information for accident/incident/event reporting.
